From the East Side:
Take FDR Drive North to Willis Avenue bridge to Major Deegan Expressway/Route 87 North, to Saw Mill River Parkway North, to Taconic Parkway North. Follow directions from the Taconic Parkway below.
From the West Side:
Take the Henry Hudson North to Saw Mill River Parkway North, to Taconic Parkway North. Follow directions from the Taconic Parkway below.
Once on the Taconic Parkway:
Follow the Taconic approximately an hour and a half to Chatham exit, Route 295 East (exit is marked “last exit before toll”). Follow Route 295 East to Route 22 North. Take Route 22 North (through Lebanon, NY, jogging left at the fork at the end of the New Lebanon strip) to Route 43 East (in Stephentown, NY). Route 43 will be a sharp right at a traffic light (Cumberland Farms will be on your left) approximately 5 miles outside New Lebanon.
Follow Route 43 for 17.3 miles, until it dead-ends in a “T” at Route 2 in Williamstown. Take a left onto Route 2 West and follow 0.4 miles to WTF. The Theatre will be on your right, just before the junction of Routes 2 & 7.
Commercial Vehicles:
Commercial vehicles are not allowed on the Taconic Parkway. The following is the best route to Williamstown for commercial vehicles:
Take FDR Drive North to Willis Avenue bridge to Major Deegan Expressway/Route 87 North.
Follow I 87 (NY State Thruway) North to Exit 21A to I 90 East, the Berkshire Spur. Take Exit B3 in Austerlitz/New Lebanon NY to Route 22 North.
Take Route 22 North (through Lebanon, NY, jogging left at the Hess Station at the end of the New Lebanon strip) to Route 43 East (in Stephentown, NY). Route 43 will be a sharp right at a traffic light (Cumberland Farms will be on your left) approximately 5 miles outside New Lebanon.
Follow Route 43 for 17.3 miles, until it dead-ends in a “T” at Route 2 in Williamstown. Take a left onto Route 2 West and follow 0.4 miles to WTF. The Theatre will be on your right, just before the junction of Routes 2 & 7.

Driving time from Hartford is approximately 2 hours 15 minutes; approximately 2 hours 45 minutes from New Haven.
Take Route 91 North to the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) West. Follow the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) West, a toll road, to Exit 2 in Lee. Take a right at the bottom of the ramp towards downtown Lee (Route 20 West). In Lenox, this will merge with Route 7 North. Follow Route 7 North (bearing right at the Pittsfield traffic circle, then turning left at the first light) all the way to Williamstown. Route 2 merges with Route 7 for approximately 2.4 miles until you come to a traffic circle (the village green), where the two split. Follow Route 2 East; the Williamstown Theatre Festival will be approximately 100 yards ahead on your left.

Driving time from the Capitol Region is approximately 1 hour – 1 hour 15 minutes.
There are three ways to reach the Williamstown Theatre Festival from New York’s Capitol Region. You should read all three and choose one based on your point of origin.
From Albany proper and points south of the Capitol Region:
Take I-90 to Exit 8 (Route 43, sign marked “Defreestville”). it 8 is approximately 6.5 miles east of Route 87. Follow Route 43 East to Stephentown, NY, where it crosses Route 22. Continue straight on Route 43 for 17.3 miles, until it dead-ends in a “T” at Route 2 in Williamstown. Take a left onto Route 2 West and follow 0.4 miles to WTF. The Theatre will be on your right, just before the junction of Routes 2 & 7.
From Schenectady / Troy:
Follow Route 2 East from Latham all the way to Williamstown, MA (approximately 35 miles). In Williamstown, Route 2 merges with Route 7 for approximately 2.4 miles until you come to a traffic circle (the village green), where the two split. Follow Route 2 East; the Williamstown Theatre Festival will be approximately 100 yards ahead on your left.
From Schenectady / Troy / Saratoga / Lake George:
Take Route 87 to the NY-Route 7 East exit. Follow Route 7 approximately 25 miles through Troy, to North Hoosick, NY. Turn right onto Route 22 South (Stewart’s Shop on the corner as you turn). Follow Route 22 approximately 2.2 miles and turn left onto Route 346. Follow Route 346 approximately 7.2 miles through Pownal, VT. Route 346 ends in a “T” at US-Route 7 (a different Route 7 than the one you were on earlier). Take a right onto Route 7 South and follow approximately 4.2 miles to the junction of Routes 2 & 7. Take a left onto Route 2 East; the Williamstown Theatre Festival will be approximately 100 yards ahead on your left.

Driving time from Boston is approximately 3 hours, approximately 2.5 hours from Worcester, approximately 1.5 hours from Springfield.

Take Route 2 West through Greenfield. (In Greenfield, Route 2 merges onto Interstate 91 for approximately 3 miles — watch for Route 2 West exit.) After Greenfield, Route 2 (also called the Mohawk Trail) becomes a winding, steep road at times. After passing the hairpin turn in North Adams, the Williamstown Theatre Festival is approximately 8 miles on your right, just before the junction of Routes 2 & 7.
Note: There are very few rest area facilities on Route 2.

The Berkshire Flyer
The Berkshire Flyer is Amtrak’s new seasonal passenger rail service between New York City and the Berkshires. Service will run July 8 through September 4, 2022. The train departs from New York Penn Station at 3:16 p.m. on Fridays, and arrives at Joseph Scelsi Intermodal Transportation Center in Pittsfield at 7:12 p.m. Departure from Pittsfield is at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and arrival in New York City is 7:05 p.m.
After you arrive in the Berkshires on Friday, you will need a way to get from the train station to where you are staying. On Fridays, shuttle service from the Pittsfield Intermodal Center to the lodging destinations in the Berkshires. On Sundays, pick-up shuttle service from the lodging destinations in the Berkshires to the Pittsfield Intermodal Center. Alternative options
Take Amtrak from New York City (or fly) to Albany, where you can rent a car (Albany is a 50 minute
drive from Williamstown). Peter Pan Bus Lines (peterpanbus.com or 800.556.3815) services Williamstown (from both Boston and NYC) and drops you about 200 yards from the theatre.
